Summer Update
Welcome to my summer update on matters affecting our branch.

You may be aware from recent articles in the press and on social media, that a certain Fife Councillor from the Levenmouth area has been convicted of serious crimes. In all likelihood, this person will be disbarred from holding elected office and obliged to resign. This means that a byelection will likely be held within the next three months in order to elect a person with a genuine local interest and a desire to champion community issues and improvements.
Candidate Selection for By-election
We are now inviting expressions of interest from members who feel they might like to stand as a candidate in this election, the selection process is open to everyone especially female candidates. If you would like to put your name forward or have any questions relating to this, please contact me directly on 07919172801 or reply to this email.
Successful Summer Barbeque
On to other matters now, on Tuesday 8th July we held our summer barbeque in the grounds of the Polish Club, the weather was great for the most part (started to rain at the end) and we were treated to excellent food provided and expertly cooked by our own MSP, David Torrance. It was well attended and also very pleasing to see so many new faces.
National Conference & Energy Resolution
The dates for National Conference to be held in Aberdeen (11/13 October 2025) have been announced and, I have been working with a number of members from other branches on a Resolution to present to Conference concerning the plundering of our renewable green electricity by the Westminster Government's proxies, the National Grid and Scottish Power Energy Networks (SPEN). Both of these are private companies! I have finalised the Resolution and it has been submitted to the PDC for consideration of presentation to Conference as a joint resolution from Kirkcaldy, Loudon and Annandale & Eskdale branches and is supported by all Fife branches.
SPEN 'Drop-in Event' on HVDC Cable Project
By coincidence, SPEN have just announced a 'Drop-in Event' on Thursday 07 August 2025 at the Kinghorn Community Centre, Rossland Place, Kinghorn. This is in relation to their plan to run an HVDC cable From Westfield near Ballingry to Kinghorn where it will enter the sea and be laid along the seabed all the way south to Norfolk. This is but one of five such projects all designed to siphon off our green energy to satisfy demand in England with no tangible benefit to Scotland. I would encourage members to go along to this event which starts at 14.00 hrs. and see just exactly what's going on.
Next Branch Meeting
Our next meeting will be held on Tuesday 12 August 2025 at the Polish Club, Bennochy Road, Kirkcaldy at 19.30 hrs.
