Brook Taverner clearance: up to 60% off suits, linen shirts and jackets

Brook Taverner has opened its clearance with reductions of up to 60% across menswear. The clearance covers suits, formal and casual shirts, jackets, waistcoats, trousers, knitwear and outerwear, with a separate multibuy running on short-sleeve and linen shirts. No closing date has been published.

What's in the sale

Tailoring accounts for the largest cash savings — several British and Italian wool suits are down by £100 to £150 — while the shirt range carries the deepest percentages, most of it reduced from £59.95 to £24.95. Linen and cotton-linen pieces, unsurprisingly for August, have been cut hardest.

How the discount works

This is a clearance section rather than a sitewide event, so the reductions apply only to the stock listed under the clearance pages and there is no code to enter. The shirts carry an additional multibuy flag — 3 for £20 each — which sits on top of the clearance price and applies across the printed, linen and stripe short-sleeve styles. Taken at three, a shirt that started at £59.95 works out at £20, a fraction under the single-item clearance price of £24.95. Brook Taverner lists free 90-day returns and a next-day delivery option across suits, shirts and trousers.

Worth it?

The tailoring is where the money is. A £349 British wool suit at £199, with the waistcoat optional, is a genuine reduction against Brook Taverner's standing prices, and the wool suits are the pieces least likely to be discounted further. The linen jackets at £59–£69 are the best value in the sale on a cost-per-wear basis if bought for next summer rather than this one. The shirts are only worth taking at three: at £24.95 singly the saving is smaller than the multibuy implies, and taking three brings the print and linen styles down to a price the range rarely reaches. Suits are stocked thinly by the time clearance opens, so anything in a mid-range chest measurement is worth checking first.
