How it’s calculated
UKDI = 0.5·Depth + 0.3·Breadth + 0.2·Clearance
Depth asks how much of the market is seriously discounted. Breadth asks whether whole shops are on sale, or just corners of them. Clearance asks how much is being moved out at desperation prices. Each is a plain percentage of live, verified listings — no modelling, no seasonal adjustment, reproducible from our public data.
Advertised was-prices are validated first: discounts above 90% and known inflated-RRP patterns are excluded, so the index can’t be gamed by fake markdowns.
